Savannah, Florida and Western Railroad

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACL and SAL Railroads Historical Society : One Thread

My g-g-g-grandfather and his sons all worked for the Savannah, Florida and Western Railroad System in the late 1800's. Are there still records available for that timeperiod?

Please advise where I can research this. Thank you for your assistance.

Dear Valerie, I have an excellent timetable from the SF&W, dated 1892. I would be more than happy to make you a copy, but I am currently living in South Korea while in the Air Force. I am going home to Mount Laurel, NJ in February and can make you a photocopy then, if you'd like. Just keep bugging me so I won't forget. My other e-mail here in Uijongbu is GoldenJD@usfk.korea.army.mil. I don't know if that old timetable would help you much, but it's a real gem.

Best Wished! JG

We are sorry, but the society dosen't have personal records of railroad employees. We are asked about employees from time to time and cannot help. Most of the questions are about people that have passed on,some as many as 50 or 60 years ago. These are impossible to answer, most railroads trash these records after a length of time. Your question dates over a 100 years ago,of course no one from that time is alive, nor I doubt that anyone would have records of someone that they did not know after all these years.
