Dear ERT Member & Associates,

Victor Furtado, our treasurer, is after you. He wants your money and he wants it right now! Please make sure that you have forwarded it to him; remember our dues are a nominal $100 annually due January 1st.

We have begun an interesting philosophical discussion, that we invite you to join. Should we concentrate on speakers who are politically correct and controversial or on those who have a brain?

Ladies and Gentlemen, perhaps more of us should just wake up from profound slumber Wednesday Mornings and struggle in, regardless of the speaker or topic. Last week some of our members stayed away because the topic was renewable energy resources however those who made it to the meeting had a wonderful and controversial time battering the topic, the speaker and each other. It makes a Great way to start the day and your own particular engine. By and large our speakers are a highly engaging, intelligent group.

You are cordially invited to attend our Annual Speakers Reception, honoring the speakers who have enlightened our members during the last year. Thursday April 9th 1998; 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Our member John Morrissey and his wife Eileen have graciously provided us the use of their home at 2030 Jackson Street, San Francisco, CA 94109. RSVP to 415-431-1248 by 04/01/98. Members are reminded that the couvert of $ 15 per person should be paid to Treasurer Vic Furtado. March 18, 1998 8am at the Federal Reserve

Nate Dwiri, President of Yellow Cab Co-op of San Francisco will be our honored speaker. Nate was born in Poland where he spent the WWII and emigrated to the U.S. in 1951 at the age of 11. After holding a number of jobs in New York he came to San Francisco and entered the Taxi Business. The Taxi business is very interesting especially in San Francisco. We have asked Nate to talk about himself, about the Taxi business, about San Francisco and how this melange of characters operates in the political environment.

March 25, 1998

Bob Gardner, President of GGC&Y [Gardner, Geary, Coll & Young, Inc. Advertising] will present a most unusual demonstration. Bob, in addition to his great skills in the advertising world has a hobby of informed observer of politics. He will show video tapes of commercial advertisements and make evident how successful techniques are transformed from a commercial product to a political campaign.

April 1, 1998

Ed Cavagnaro (a nice Italiano (please no comments on this small rhyme)) Director of News and Programming for KCBS, for 15 years; a wonderful fellow with the gift of humor (you do need it with some of the news that crosses his desk) will give us an inside look at the people, the events, the politics that shape our relationship with the news media.

March 8, 1998

European integration will be the subject addressed by Ruprecht Henatsch, Consul General, Federal Republic of Germany. Ruprecht has made his posting to San Francisco an occasion for very positive diplomacy. He is well informed about his Country, Trade and the changes taking place on the Continent.

As a last note please be advised again that dues of $100 became payable January 1st 1998. This notice serves as your phinal invoice. You may pay our treasurer Victor Furtado when you see him at a meeting or mail him at: 677 Tampico Drive, Walnut Creek, CA 94598.

Regards, wex
