Can't be true--it's still the number one movie in the nation. The executives at Paramount are not dummies, nor are lacking in the desire to make money. Titanic will be in theaters for many more weeks to come.

Trust me on this one. God himself could not get this movie out of the theaters.

Kate: Titanic is rumored to be scheduled to stay in theatres through April 15, at least. There is plenty of time to see it the fourth, fifth, and sixth time, or more . . . :)

I'm sure the movie theater owners, who are also making a fortune off this movie, realise that if they keep Titanic for another 3 weeks the Oscar winners will have been announced and when Titanic wins a whole bunch of awards, like it deserves to, there will be another rush to the theater to see it again, or god forbid for the first time- it's hard to imagine that there are still people who haven't seen this amazing movie even once!

As an aside, does anyone know what the longest running movie of all time is and if Titanic has beat it yet?

At many of the multiplexes around where I live, the number of daily showings has decreased. Some theaters have been showing the movie on multiple screens. It possible that the number of screens will go down this week. But I can't imagine any theater owners smart enough to remain in business who would willingly give up their print, especially with the Oscars just three weeks away.

Jackie:

I'm pretty sure the longest running movie of all time would be "The Rocky Horror Picture Show", which has been running, at least on weekends, in certain cities since 1975 without a break.

I guess we could ***try*** to match that with "Titanic". We could all dress up in 1912 period outfits, memorize the entire script, act out the film in front of the screen, and toss appropriate props around the theater. Instead of newspapers and rice, we could just douse first-time viewers with 28 degree water at the climactic moments.

Or would that just be silly? :-)

Thomas, some people are obsessed enough already. Don't give them new ideas!
