I am an amateur photographer with a very important question. Do any of you master photographers out there have any suggestions on how to get better contrast with my pictures?? I have a Pentax K1000 (i know an old camera) and i have seen great contrast come out of it but i need to be consistent. any info is greatly appreciated!!

You need to explain more about what you mean by "better contrast." Are you getting too much contrast or too little? On your prints or on slides and negatives? In what situations?

If you get the chance, try renting a contax camera with any of its superb zeis lenses. The difference with your pentax will be like cleaning off a pair of clouded eyeglasses. To me this is what contrast is all about.

Another place to check. I just saw this problem in my photo club last week. New member was having trouble with contrast. We made a lot of suggestions about checking safelights, etc, etc. The guy bought a new 50mm f2.8 El-nikkor enlarging lens---great contrast!
