I don't mean to be morbid, but this is something that I have been wondering about since I saw "A&E's Biography" of Molly Brown. It stated that in 1922 she traveled to Halifax, Nova Scotia where the Titanic victims were buried, and laid wreaths that she had made by hand on each and every grave. She said it was something she felt she had to do. Even ten years later, Molly Brown was still haunted by what she had witnessed that horrific, April night. (The photograph shown portrayed row after row of small, uniform, granite headstones, similar to a civil war cemetery. It's at this point that you begin to feel that pit in your stomach when you're reminded, as I was by the film, that this was not a piece of intriguing fiction, that instead it was all too real.)

Anyway, has it ever been broken down as to how many were recovered from the icy waters (This group would have included the fictitious Jack Dawson, though it is doubtful he would have been identified.) as opposed to those who were lost on the ship?

And as long as I mentioned Jack, how long, if at all, would it take Rose to follow Molly Brown's lead and embark on a pilgrimage of her own, fueled by love as opposed to regret?

Answers

Brian: According to Dr. Robert Ballard in his book "The Discovery of the Titanic", there were 328 bodies recovered by the various ships that the White Star Line had sent to search for remains.
