The world's first film about the Titanic, a 30-minute silent movie made in Berlin just two months after the ocean liner sank, has been discovered on the shelf of a Berlin film collector, a German newspaper said Wednesday. Berlin's Tagesspiegel daily said one copy of "In Nacht und Eis" (In Night and Ice), which is believed to be the first of at least eight feature films on the doomed ship that sank in 1912 on its maiden voyage, had been found after a lengthy search. "The film is no great work of art, but it is historically significant because it was made so soon after the Titanic sank," said expert Andreas Austilat. Rose, I read about this in The Times yesterday too. I wonder what it's like? And also its accuracy, being made 2 months or so after the tragedy it might have had the benefit of all the recent press reports and inquiry reports (had the inquiries reached their conclusion by then?) but then again it may also have fallen prey to all the rumour and speculation arising at the time, perhaps this is what makes it so interesting now.

Respectfully though, I don't think James Cameron has anything to worry about in terms of competition!
