Does anyone know how old Kate Winslet's fiancee, Stephen Tredre, is?

Stephen Tredre was 12 years older than Kate. He died of Cancer on Dec 8, 1997. Kate missed one of the Premieres to sing at his funeral. After reading the March Rolling Stones article, it sounds like they weren't engaged when he died.

There's a fair amount of information about this in, believe it or not, _People Magazine_ this week (the one with the US ice skaters on the cover). It's part of an article on "The Women of Titanic." The article also features Ms. Bates, Ms. Stuart, and Ms. Fisher.

Actually, from what I have read, they never were engaged. They were involved when she was considerably younger, before the filming of Sense and Sensibility. He exceeded her age by at least ten years, and they apparently "kept it legal" until she turned 16 (which is the "adult" age in Britain, I guess). They separated before or during the filming of Hamlet but remained close. I have also heard a report that she was kept from the premiere because of dysentery. Presently, she is involved with someone, but she is keeping his name quiet so he is not attacked by the press.
