Did anyone besides me notice that in some of the special, when they were showing leo, It was THE SAME leo that was in the oprah show? If you remember, leo "couldn't make it" and insted they showed 2 clips of him answering questions that I thought were taped for oprah. I watched the fox show and... SURPRISE! Leo was in the same outfit, same place, same position. What is up with this?

And if you look at www.titanicmovie.com's interviews you'll see that clip many times over on TV also. He's making two new movies right now, which would keep any soul very busy, but I can't help but think his lack of making appearances turned the Academy off and that's why they didn't nominate him. Show biz is all about putting your best face forward as often as possible. And although it's understandable that he has other projects underway too, and admirable that he's devoting much (if not all) of his time to those projects, he should be able to take a day off now and then for the big media events. Showbiz could not sustain itself if it wasn't for other forms of media, the Academy knows this, and so they support actors who smile for the cameras. Or maybe the Academy just thinks that Leo sucks as an actor . . .

Jen: Do you really think DiCaprio's lack of media appearances seriously affected his chances at an Oscar nomination? I can't imagine such criteria influencing a decision so important to an actor's career. I mean, can you imagine judges refusing to award Olympic gold to a more talented athlete simply because they didn't smile as much for the cameras? I have heard complaints about Leonardo's reclusiveness. After weeks in the box office, he has not come forward nearly as much as Winslet and Cameron. Arrogance? Or is he just busy? I think he could sacrifice a few hours to appear on the more prestigious talk shows, such as "Oprah," which had both Cameron and Winslet.
