After seeing the movie four times I still debate the fact that the Carpethia ship that appears in the movie, is actually the Titanic. can anyone shed some light on this?.

Can you clarify your question a little bit? I'm not exactly sure what you mean. The Carpathia was the rescue ship that sped 58 miles to get to the the site of the sinking.

I'm not sure what you mean, either, but I'll take a stab at it. If you're talking about the ship shown on-screen, the long shot of Carpathia shown toward the end of the film is an accurate representation of the original. I don't know if it was computer generated, a model or a matte painting.

If you're talking about the set used for the scene of Billy Zane's character searching for Rose (with the pile of lifejackets, a nice, poignant touch), and later of Rose standing in the rain, that may well have been done on one of the Titanic sets "redressed" to look like Carpathia. The aft well deck area would have doubled nicely for Carpathia's steerage area, with just a few cosmetic alterations.

Cheers!

sorry for the lack of detail on the question guys. But Kip guessed it. What I was wanting to know was , If the one shot of the carpethia towards the end of the movie, was the Titanic (minus 3 funnels) or was it another model ship?, since it only appears for about 5 seconds.

Thanks Jesse: Leave it to Kip to figure it out! One thing about what Kip said about Rose standing in the rain. This is just another example of James Camerons attention to detail. When the Carpathia docked in New York, there was a rather dramatic thunderstorm as if these people needed any more dramatic reminders of what they had just been through! Cameron really did his homework right down to the weather that night!

I think that you are little bit right because carpethia Was the ship who save the pessenger of Titanic so we can say that Carpethia ship that appears in the movie, is actually the Titanic. According to my information it saved 700 pessenger of Titanic
