Does Minnesota have more lakes than any other state? If Minnesota doesn't, do you know which state does? Thank you, Nancy

This is debated by several states. There are quite a few lakes in Minnesota and I bet it may qualify. Depends on what you call a lake.

A state survey, done quite a few years ago, counted 15,281 (as I remember) lakes that were over 10 acres in size. I also recall that some of them were dry and if subtracted out left a total of around 12 or 13,000. The 15,281 figure is most often used.
