Has anyone ordered "Titanic" movie props from J. Peterman?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TitanicShack : One Thread

I was just wondering if anyone has ordered any of the "Titanic" movie props from the J. Peterman catalog? And if so, how recently? I checked out the offerings on the Peterman website (www.jpeterman.com) today and there are some affordable items, but they are probably all gone by now.

2/2/98 11:50a.m. Just got through to www. jpeterman.com., after a dozen reloads and notices about sever overload. thet only have spoons, knives, and forks, used in the first class dining scenes left. Plates, glassware clothes, chairs, etc is all gone. Pricy; paid 85.00 for soup spoon used in the scene with Jack and Kate. Best of luck. Hope Kate stuck it in her mouth... I bought Rose's dress from the J. Peterman catalog. It's very elegant & beautiful! I also have a $600.00 copy of "the Heart of the Ocean"

Yes, I have ordered products from the JPeterman company, such as THE necklace, and the comb. The only thing is......why the heck is it so hard to visit the site? Is there a line? Is it "one at a time, please" or "woman and children first"? I absolutely love my necklace and comb, but what I really want to know is about which dresses are left in stock from the Titanic collection. I am interested in knowing information about the "Boarding Dress" and/or the hat. CAN ANYONE HELP ME?????? ;-P

It appears that J.Peterman's has gone out of the online business for good.

I'd suggest checking eBay for any future purchases.

No, but I do have a rather large fiberglass piece (bollard) recovered from the dump site in Rosarito. It presently in my back yard as we are usung it as an outdoor picnic table of sorts. It is about 3' in diameter and ~2.75'high and weighs about 20 lbs. It is in very good condition and can be seen in the early scenes at dock side. CR

I purchased the Heart of the Ocean from J Peterman, yet am searching for the Butterfly hair comb that was offered. If any one is willing to sell theirs PLEASE contact me!

I'm not going to part with my comb, but check ebay. They have one up for auction now and one sold just a couple of days ago (it tends to go in spurts). Good luck!

I have a VERY LARGE collection of J. Peterman "TITANIC" memorabilia that I am now looking to sell as ONE lot. My eclectic collection of J. Peterman merchandise, includes, but is not limited to: replications of china service for four, one coffee pot, one creamer, one dinner table place card, one dinner table ashtray, one dinner table matchbox holder, an exact recreation of the "Heart of the Ocean" necklace, one life preserver (actually used in the film's sinking scenes with a Twentieth Century Fox "certificate of authenticity", one Thomas Andrews blueprint of the Titanic, one Jack Dawson-commissioned charcoal sketch of young Rose DeWitt Bukater, a set of White Star Line stationery embossed with the steamer's company logo, a first class flower vase, and a replica of a crew member's whistle. NOTE: Many of the aforementioned J. Peterman articles are contained in their original J. Peterman boxes, tube-shaped mailers, etc. Other (non-J. Peterman) memorabilia includes: nearly 100 mint- condition books (soft and hardcover) related to the "TITANIC" movie, "TITANIC" the Broadway musical, the actual TITANIC ocean liner, film director James Cameron, and actors and actresses who appear in the "TITANIC" film; newspaper and magazine clippings; (perhaps thousands!); a precise water "toy" that perfectly illustrates how the TITANIC actually filled up with water, broke in two sections, and sank to the depths of the icy North Atlantic sea floor; a gift-box filled with documents related to the life, death, and subsequent inquiries into the doomed TITANIC; two commemmorative Rose DeWitt Bukater dolls from the Franklin Mint and one from the famous FAO Schwartz toy store in New York City. I also have beautiful water glasses (4), and a water decanter--all replicas made by Stuart Crystals, the same company that outfitted the White Star Line's luxurious first class dining rooms. Other items include a framed 18" by 24" print of Rose DeWitt Bukater wearing the "Heart of the Ocean" necklace; a replica of a White Star Line employee's lapel pin, four RMS Titanic pencils (unsharpened); a reproduction of a non- coommissioned officer's deck cap embossed with the words "RMS TITANIC", a mint condition movie poster (shrink-wrapped in cellophane, backed with original cardboard backing), a commemmorative "TITANIC" movie VHS giftbox with framed film cell and matching booklet. The creme de la creme is a Nantucket deck chair handmade to exact specifications by a New England craftsman. The deck chair is emblazoned with the White Star Lines "star" logo across the top. I have priced these items and I have set a reserve price that must be met if I am to sell this entire lot of items at one time. This collection will not be sold in smaller lots. This is a PICK-UP ONLY sale; no items will be sent via mail. Serious offers only.
