Something that I've always wanted to see is a graphic chart of inflation over the 20th century. Anyone know of any on the web?

FYI, it would be nice to have a standard method to calculate the cost of various projects (i.e. epic films, ocean liners, pencil sketches by talented-but-starving artists) between 1912 and 1997.

I don't have it at hand, but I found a list of movies with their gross receipts were given along and another list was with adjusted gross figures to factor in inflation. It showed that GWTW had an adjusted gross receipt of about $875 Million and is at the top. Is this what you are looking for? Since you are in this site, I assume it had something to do with this.

If your question is relating to the cost of things related to the Titanic in 1912: I heard one interesting piece of information: A first class ticket cost the equivilent of $125,000 in today's dollars. This was defended by the fact that there was no income tax back then and that type of travel was for only the extremely wealthy. Duh!

A NOTE TO KAREN's remarks; According to JIM'S TITANIC SITE webpage, the cost adjusted figures in terms of 1997/98 dollars were; first class one way passage-$1724.00; third class-anywhere from$172.00-460.00; a bargin except at the 172.00 level you slept on the floor with the rats. Thes prices seem logical.

more about gross income movies O.K. Gone with the wind is the more income productive film. But, which one is the more leasable?. It must be an amateur film cause his cost is almost zero.Then, which amateur film is the best (income speaking)?
