Would You.....???

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TitanicShack : One Thread

I would like to know if anyone would live that brief moment in life if given the chance... For guys: Would you give up your life for that brief moment in time on the titanic with your love, Rose Dawson. Seriously think about it. Would it be worth it to you to have that love and then know that you are dying for the one you love?? Would you do it????

For women: Would you do the same except in Rose's case where you know that the love of your life will die....I mean would you have that moment in time and live eternally with Jack when you die????

In my opinion, I would...for a love that "touches us once and lasts for a lifetime", I would do it....for true love. Even if I was in Jack's place instead of Rose's, I would live that life and die for my love as long as I got to have that brief moment of true love.

Quoting Celine Dion eh?

anyway, in response to the question, yes. i would gladly die for her;i would gladly die for a love as strong as their's.. i would like to note that you limit jack's and rose's love to a "brief moment in time" yet a love such as the one portrayed is far greater than the time over which it exists.. everything else other than that love (life included) becomes superfluous.. of course that kinda true love is an almost unreachable ideal.. but if a love as true as jack's and rose's could be attained....

Sure I would! I know how a love this strong feels, because I have it with my husband. We went to see that movie together and were both so moved by it, that our love for each other became much stronger. We realized how much we mean to each other and how precious our life together is. We are planning on buying that movie as soon as it's out on video, and each time we see it we'll remember how it made us feel the first time.

I would save Jack. If I were Rose, I would because even when I said I didn't love him he loved me. I would reaturn the favor by saving his life and at least staying with him till the end. Because I know our Hearts would go on.

Definately.........

A love like that would be too hard to pass up. Even if I knew I would soon die it would really be worth it b/c we all die eventually but not all of us ( actually very few ) get the chance to experience a love so strong.

It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. I would do it if it ment that I got to spend every possible second with the one I love.

the Bible says: "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." -John 15:13

u better believe i would go back. there is no greater display of love for some one than to sacrifice your own life. that is why Jesus dying on the cross is the greatest love the world has seen. true love means denying yourself for the one/ones you love.

Best question yet MJ, thanks! I not only would do it, I ACTUALLY DID!!! The best thing about this movie is just this... True Love is more valuable than all the money in the world, all the fame the media can dish, all the security your ego can fabricate. Yes, I would. Yes, I did. Thanks to James Cameron and all he represents, now many more will too.

Of course - If it was really true love, that means giving anything and everything for the one you love - I'd do it and not think twice about it

THERE WAS ENOUGH ROOM FOR BOTH OF THEM ON THE STUPID PIECE OF WOOD DARN IT!!!!!!!!

-- Cara (sammons@mint.net), January 27, 1998.

Cara--Yes, there was enough ROOM on the wood, but that doesn't neccessarily mean that it would hold the weight of both of them!

I can only answer that question as if I were like Rose...in that I was young and falling in love for the first time. (I'm not old, but I'm not a teenager either) (I am in love, but I also have kids)

Yes, I would stay with my true love till the very bitter end. No question. I was pratically leaning out of my chair, waiting for Rose to jump out of that boat, I just KNEW she'd do it!!

first of all, not to be picky, but if you watch closely, Jack makes an attempt to get on the driftwood, but it cant hold them both so he lets Rose stay on it. I would definately do all that she did if I was in her position. I would have been so greatful for him having saved my life that I would've definately swam through the hallway to get him free from the handcuffs. When she jumped back on to the boat I was also sitting on the edge of my seat because had that been me I would've. I really think the way the character of Jack was created was done in a way to capture the audience and make you fall in love with him. I definately did and I think that's why I was so much more moved with this movie than anyone before it!

yes I would, you would not have to ask me twice, to have a love like that, I could only dream of. I hope some day I find that kind of love.

-- Shaun (grant@innernet.net), March 04, 1998.

Yes. A love like that is truely remarkable. And as for "Love at First Sight" in the words of Leo, "You gotta keep the faith."

-- Juliet A E Brisch (noway@sorry.com), March 25, 1998.

ok, MJ, i'm answering again. think of it like this: love is somthing you can never replace. love is life. you wouldn't be alive with out love. love is like water, only more prescious, a few days with out it, and you would die.

-- Juliet A.E. Brisch (noway@sorry.com), May 31, 1998.

When you love someone that deeply, that strongly, you would do anything to keep them safe/alive--even if it meant dying for them.

-- Nonnie Parker (x96smock@wmich.edu), April 16, 1999.

Elisa, its supposed to be the promise that kept rose alive, not being on the bloody piece of wood. and i would definaly die for the one i loved. when my boyfriend was in a car accident, and everyone thought he was gonna die, i would have done anything to trade places with him.
