Public art commission annual budgets

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Public Art : One Thread

The Palo Alto (California) Public Art Commission currently has a budget of $30,000 per year. We seek to increase this amount and would like to survey other art commissions cooncerning their annual budgets, especially those without a percent for art program.

The Denver "Mayor's Commission on Art, Culture and Film" works without a budget. This has been a problem from the start and is under review at this time. Denver does have a 1% program but the commission does not recive funds from the 1% budget.

The City of Santa Cruz Arts Commission has a budget of about $44,000 a year, which is distributed as grants to artists and arts organizations. We are working on a public art plan and hope to propose a percent for arts ordinance in the not-too-distant future.

The Martinez, CA Arts and Library Commission has, for the first time ever, a 20k budget for 2003. We are looking for ways to gain additional funding for 2004 due to concerns of lack of funding in 2004.
