Is it true that Alexander got a name/ surname Zulkarnain. If yes, where, when and why did he get it?

Not surname but a nickname he received in Asia many centuries after his death. Zulkarnain means the two-horned one and was given to Alexander because on the coins of his successors his head was depicted with ram's horns to stress his divinity. Ram was the symbol of Egyptian God Ammon or Greek God Zeus.

I have never heard of that name before. What language is it? Also what does it mean? Maybe if you can give an English translation someone may have heard of that Surname. From everything I know the only surname Alexander or anyone else at that time would have is "The son of" or "of the city or area one comes from". So he would have been "Alexander, Son of Phillip" or he would be "Alexander of Macedonia" there were no actual surnames at the time.

Hope this helps!
