Do you think Oliver Stone´s movie shows Alexander as bisexual in order to be controversial and sell more?

The very act of Stone's , denouncing his own creation speaks for itself!and also, one more thing:People hated this movie-so they kept their distances and just didnt pay a dame 4 it-not even for DVD releases..Should we spend more time on this topic?I dont think so.Better lets focus on "feel-good" history made by some minorities that try to justify their historic presence in todays' world and so they claim Alexander of being of a non-Greek origin, going against all odds and disregarding all archaeological proof and all international literature on this matter. This is a primoral scent of Fascistic mentality over here, that's trying to alterate global historical events just like Hitler tryied to do back in the 40s,and this is really a matter to focus upon, cause its gonna mess things up if we let it AS IS!

No one said he wasn't bisexual, but Oliver Stone should not have focused so much of the movie on it.

No, oliver stone was not trying to sell more by makeing alexander a bisexual. in anciant greece it was OK for men to have sex with other men.

Yes James you are correct. I also find it a shame that more Greeks fought agianst Alexander than served him and that he was more appreciated by the Romans a few centuries later than he was by the city states who often tried to rebel against his rule.

Bill you are correct. There is another meaning also. If you look in an ancient Greek dictionary you will see it also means; powerfull; mighty; and strong. So even though it can mean "great" it doesn't neccesarily mean "Great" I would like it to be from the Greeks, but I like to keep an open mind.

It wasn't just the Romans who calle him Alexander the Great, during his campaign he had a nickname of Megas which meant "The Great"

Yes I do believe it. Oliver Stone is always making movies to be controversial. His most controversial one was JFK. It is controversy that sells. I believe that what hurt this film was that too much emphasis was placed on the love life of Alexander and not enough of what made him "Great" as the Romans later named him.

Alexander was bisexual, even so I doubt this would would sell more. I think the film featured to much of his love life.
