Alexanders horse was names Bucephalas. Bu=Ox and Cephalas=Head in Greek. He named the horse that because his head was somewhat shaped like an ox's head and the horse was as stubborn as an ox. The horse was brought to Phillip by the Thessalians who were known to be the best horsemen in Hellas(Greece) at the time. (IF YOU READ THE OTHER POST ON THIS SITE YOU CAN READ THE REST OF THE STORY)

His dogs name was Peritas. The dog followed Alexander from Pella all the way across most of Persia. There is a story that tells of Alexander stopping his march for 3 days in order for him to nurse the dog back to health and even in many instances when the dog could not keep up he would carry him on Bucephalas with him. He even named a city after the dog when he died.

As you can see Alexander was an animal lover, and probably loved animals more than he loved people. This is probably because animals give you their undying faith and affection and don't ask for much except for some attention and food/water. While with people you never know what you could expect.

Alexander brought many scientist with him on his conquest. Including Biologist, Botonist, Geologist, Geographers and Ethnologist, etc. He even sent his teacher Aristotle in Athens many of the species they encountered along their way.

Alexander was an adventurer, I Feel, most of all. He never seemed satisfied with where he has been and what he has seen. He always wanted to see more, that is one of the reasons why I feel he continued his march further and further east.

Anyways I hope this answers your question and then some.
