Alexander ruled from the age of 20 (when his father was assasinated) to the age of 33 (when he died of fever in Babylon). I would say that his greatest dream was to unite the world - to conquer all the lands and Hellenize them. He wanted to be able to say "I'M THE KING OF THE WORLD" like that guy in the Titanic movie...
