I am writing a paper on why I think Hamlet is not a tragic hero, at least not to the standards of Aristotle's Poetics. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on this or just had a differnt opinion.

I think Hamlet was a tragic hero because it took alot to stand up for your father (dead). If someone would have killed my father or mother I owuld do anything in my might to have them killed b/c they are a part of me. SO I think he is a very good xample of a hero.

i think hamlet was a tragic hero. he was a hero of some stature in the sense that the audience could feel some sympathy for him. also, his downfall (death) was caused by his fatal flaw(revenge) and there was a sense of tragic irony as we could foresee his death but he could not. he was a hero in the sense he was trying to do what he believed was right and stick up for his father. however, he wasnt always a simple all good hero as he is a misogynist in the way he seemed to be a huge hater of women in general, not only his mother and gertrude

I think that hamlet was a tragic hero but his fatal flaw was he thought his actions out to much and never acted on any of his plans.
