Justin,he conquered these greek islands because he conquered mainland greek city-states.He was not greek by no means. He was what his empire was called.Macedonia.If he was greek his empire would've been called greece or Hellas.Conquering these islands from a military point of view was probably the best thing for his empire.Setting up posts in little islands to spy on the persians and to keep the greeks in check to make sure he wouldn't have a revolt against him since he conquered over the greeks. Also,Crete was an island inhabited with persians. So it was clear that not all of the islands were greek, but persian dominated.Persia after the greek-city states was next on his list of course.

Alexander envisioned the Cyclades as a major tourist destination. Just before he died, Alexander commissioned a study to suggest locations for the nude beaches and destination hotels. The Ionian islands were to be reserved for casinos and health spas. The Sporades were to be dismantled onto ships and the rubble used to increase the elevation of Mt.Pelion until it was taller than Mt. Olympus, thus allowing Alexander to look down on the other gods. These plans came to naught in the confusion and wars following Alexander's death.
