With two months notice, I requested a 6-week unpaid leave of absence to help my sister with the birth of her first child. I have no husband or children to care for, and my mother passed on 10 years ago. We are extremely close, but I understand family leave does not generally include siblings. I have worked many long hours at my salaried job (avg 50-60 hours/wk). We are a small company (8 employees + outside consultants, etc.), but had recently hired a COO to take over much of the responsibilities that been overwhelming my desk. My request was denied. Do I have any grounds in filing for unemployment benefits following a "voluntary quit?"
