Can we migrate DB2 UDB V6 on WIN NT V4.0 server directly to DB2 UDB V8.1.4?

From my experience, I have to migrate DB2 UDB V6 on WIN NT V4.0 server to DB2 UDB V8.1.0, then only can apply the 8.1.4 FixPak. But, I can install DB2 UDB V8.1.4 on other PC (which without any DB2 UDB software).

Does it means that we need to migrate DB2 UDB V6 to DB2 UDB V8.1.0 first, then only can apply the FixPak 4a? But for the fresh installation, we can directly install DB2 UDB V8.1.4. Can somebody give me the answer? Thanks in advance ;o)
