Who did Alexander the Great leave his empire to after he died and what happened to it?

Actually, he left the emipre as previously stated, to the strongest which were his THREE generals; there names were Antigonus, Ptolemy, and Selecus. Antigonus controlled Macedon, Ptolemy seized Egypt and Selecus took Asia Minor and the Fertile Crescent. In a nutshell, a very small nutshell, his Empire fell.

As was said, the empire was split up between his four generals. However, I could only find the inheritance of Ptolemy and Seleucus. Ptolemy ruled Egypt and Judea. Seleucus ruled Babylon and Syria. I believe Antiochus IV seized these thrones and his final kingdom consisted of Syria, Egypt, Judea, Babylon and parts of Asia Minor. The Roman Empire ended up with most of this territory.I hope this helps you.

First it was given to his step brother who was disabled in some way but he eventually was overthrown due to his incapable way of handling the throne. The throne was meant to go to one of Alexanders sons but there were two from different wives so there was a great hoo-ha about that and all.

all he ever said on his death bed about that was "to the strongest" so his entire empire got split up by the generals who wanted his power. all of the royal family was killed around then too.
