Grady Softball Team Victorious!

The Grady softball team put one in the win column Wednesday afternoon, beating the Therrell Panthers at Therrell, 21-10. After a tough 13-11 loss to Crim on Tuesday, the Grady girls came out ready to play this afternoon. Five runs in the first and 14 in the second (10 after two were out!) staked Grady to a big lead.

The Lady Knights were sparked early by third baseman Danielle Shows, who tripled and doubled runs home her first two at bats. Senior LeBrittney Jones was steady on the mound, while the infield with Ashley Anderson, Elissa Koehl, Alice Bufkin and Shows kept the defense under control. Freshman Caitlin Bradley, normally the starter at 2nd base, filled in admirably behind the plate. And the outfield was covered well by Miranda Brownlee, Vivi Chavez-Vega, Morgan Phillips-Spotts, Allie Farnham, and Anne Mari Drolet.

Therrell tried to come back with three runs in the bottom of the fourth, but Jones got the last Therrell batter to fly out to left into the waiting glove of senior Brownlee.

Congratulations to all the Lady Knights--including several key players who weren't able to make today's game--who have worked hard all season to practice and improve. And congratulations to Coach Thomas for this first win of the season.

Let's make it number two tomorrow (Thursday) against Decatur!! Southside Park at 5:00 PM.

I don't know who Fred Koehl is, but fkoehl@comcast.net is NOT his e- mail address. Fred, I would request that whoever you are, please use a real e-mail address, as I have no need for more useless mail.

This line was at the bottom of posting page from which I wrote this response:

"Please don't use a fake email address; it creates a lot of technical problems for the community. For example, this software will send you an email alert if someone responds to your message and those alerts will bounce back to us if the address you type isn't valid."

Furthermore, I don't know who Grady Softball Team is, but congrats on your victory. =o)
