Does shadowing doulas count toward certification??

I know that you have to do 3 births before getting certified..... Can you shadow another doula and have that count toward certification???

Thru DONA, as far as I was told by my friend/mentor, no. I beleive you have to be the primary doula, and have at least 15 hours total for the births. That's DONAs standards. www.dona.org has a lot of info about their certification rules and guidelines, and if you e-mail them a question they get back to you so quickly with an answer. Good luck! Hi, Yes, you can shadow a doula, but only one person can use that birth for certification
