Camera shops @ Chinatown

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Photography Singapore : One Thread

Hi,

My friend told me that there are a few shops in Chinatown that have the best prices even better than SimLim or Funan. But he can remember where the shops are.

Any ideas. Will be in Singapore soon to check out the prices.

I do not know about Chinatown. But if you goto Simlim or funan, please know your price from a fixed-price shop like Harway Norman and then bargain. Otherwise you lose.

Peninsula plaza is also a place to try good quality cameras.

Hi Chin Fah, Fyi, I had some pretty bad experiences at Chinatown and I won't step in there again. I went to one particular shop to inquire about the remote controller for Canon SLR. They offered to sell me at $60+ even after I told them that the Canon Recommended Price List was at about $63! The guy even told me to go to Canon to buy there instead. Later I went to MS Color and bought the same thing at $50 only! And so, I usually check around for the average prices of the items before I make an effort to make a purchase. Hope this helps.
