Questions about 2020 and 3030

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Stats Forum for Keller-plan Course : One Thread

I never asked before. If someone wanted to teach this course (Psyc 2020) what qualification would be needed? Also, did anybody take this year the M.Friendly Psyc 3030, any comments for the course?

Jacob:

Congratulations on your first posting! Let's hear more from you.

2020: I'm not sure the context for this question but generally a Ph.D. is required, although occasionally advanced graduate students are invited to teach the course.

3030: I thought that Professor Friendly was not teaching the course this year, although I assume he will be next year (2003/04). Are you asking about the 2001/02 course he taught or this year's course taught by someone else?

Response to Question

Hi Jacob, I took 3030 with M. Friendly 3 years ago (i cant believe it's been that long...) and i had an amazing experience...dont get me wrong the course is very demanding (10 assignments, and 4 exams....not all easy); but Friendly is a great prof and very helpful; as well i had an amazing TA (Oren Amitay) and that helped a lot. if you have more specific questions, i'm more than happy to answer them. Good luck. helen

I learned from Jacob in a direct e-mail that he was interested in knowing what field the Ph.D. has to be in. Most of the instructors in 2020 have Ph.D.s in Psychology although occasionally a professor from the Mathematics and Statistics department has taught 2020. It's important, of course, for the instructor to teach the course with reference to Psychological research and Psychological data. This is generally easier for a person with a Psychology Ph.D. to do.

Hi everybody. I haven't had as much time to keep in touch the last little while. It's been crazy around here. My first cousin past away in February, and I had to leave for Europe. Although I only stayed there for 2 weeks, it killed so much time needed for the final projets and final exam preperation. That sirously affected my grades, but well, I did my best. A week or two after my exams were done, I had to start summer school. I'm taking 9 credits, 6 of them in S1. I hope everybody forgives me for not having written the last little while. By the way I'm enrolling in Psyc 3030, for September. Helen was saying that she took the course about 3 years ago. Any tips for me? Would a serious review of Psyc 2020 during the summer be a great advantage, what parts of this course would be more linked to Psyc 3030? Anything you want to add Helen or anybody else, would be much appriciated. Take care everybody, and you'll hear from me soon.
