I was unable to log into the new forum because I disabled my cookies. Why do you have to have enabled cookies to log on

You don't. What happens is that your "cookie" didn't stick. The forum on Chuck's webpage can't hold the cookie because it is not the "real" site. Once we get switched over again the cookie will take hold and you won't have to log on each time.

But I don't want my cookie to stick, I want it disabled, I don't want to have to have cookies to log on, even just to read and not respond. Will this no longer be an option?............

You don't need a cookie to get into the site, view posts, create new ones or reply to old ones. You only get a cookie if you register, and that is NOT required.

If you had problems logging on it was not because you disabled cookies. Most likely it was something else.

Keep trying.
