Warrenton Railroad

I'm a collector and railfan of this NC shortline that connected with the SCL at Warren Plains, NC on the Roanoke Rapids sub-division. I've collected several photographs on this line since 1994 and I'm constantly hunting for new material to add to my collection for a possiible book on the company. Feel free to e-mail me if you have or know someone who has anything availible about this line or the SCL at Norlina and Warren Plains, NC.

I do know this, not all the Roanoke Rapids Sub was removed when it was abandoned.Under some wacky agreement, because the Warrenton RR was embargoed,a interchange still had be made somewhere, and the RR Sub was left intact ( pine trees about 6" in diameter are growing in the old line)from Norlina to Warren Plains.I had to scavenge some rail from there one time behind the rail test car, because we had some many defects. The roadmaster didn't believe me,but boy was he shocked!!!

Also as a child I remember riding on the line from Warrenton to Warren Plains in a Center Cab GE 70 ton.It was painted red, whit and blue for the centinnell celebration and on the way back from Warren Plains we ran out of fuel about half a mile from the depot!
