Why is my cow's eye weeping? What should I do?

Hi Julie, This is very common, especially during fly season. Just watch out for a pink color showing up, that could indicate pink eye.

Pink eye or some type of infection .They have "puffers" to puff into them , it should take care of it .

Pink eye is something you want to nip in the bud before it gets bad. It often starts with this weeping, and is aggravated by the wind and sun. You can either get the puffer and start that, or give her a shot of LA200.

Your cow would probably have a piece of grass or seed inbetween the eyeball and the lid. Put her in a stantion, wash the area with clean water and soft cloth, with your thumb and first finger open up the lid top and bottom and look in the corners of the eye for a grass seed. Use a cottom swab to gently remove it, squirt or dust the appropriate antibotic into the eye. If cow won't let you work on eye, get nose tongs and a rope and tie head down, so you can work on it. If left a long time, it will cause a cloudy eye and do damage.
