Winking after urinating.(horse).................

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

We have a 3 year old mare who flashes pink skin after she urinates and has been doing this for a week now. What does this mean?

Thanks,

Mike

She's in heat.

Yep. No question. The pink skin is the vulva.

she would like to meet a tall dark stallion, with a long mane and tail.., prefer non smoker, good runner, enjoys being outdoors :)

she is ready to breed

Just about any mare will "wink" after she urinates. My 9 month along preggo mare who's currently carrying her 6th foal even does this. Sort of like "shaking the last drop off" I guess. It's winking without peeing first, backing up to other horses with tail up, and that sort of thing that really indicates a heat.
