greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Another 4 US soldiers were killed yesterday at the hands of arab terrorists in afghanistan. It is time to nuke that country and get rid of bin laden once and for all! How long before chucky removes this post?

Speaking of post....did anyone ever really eat Post Toasties?? I mean, it had a cool, catchy name, but I don't think I've ever even seen one. For years I was into the Chex brand cereals, but I think I've grown out of that phase....

Hector apparently can't read the news properly. Those 4 soldiers died in an accident while disarming weapons.

The rest of his comments are so misguided that it's not even worth commenting on.

Oh Gilly, you are always getting so cereal on us~! snicker snicker! I actually like the cereal with the little marshmallows in it!

After the planes hit the World Trade Center, and the Pentagon, and news began to filter down about Bin Laden, the Taliban, muslim extremists. . . . . .I heard TOO MANY people, one of them a US congressman talking about using Nuclear weapons on another country/people. I could not believe my ears. . . . and perhaps there are those who will disagree with me vehemently, but just because WE have the power, the knowledge, and the capability, . . . . .how dare we? How dare we ever consider unleashing nuclear weapons on this earth or any of it's peoples?

I think, when it comes to either nuclear or bio warfare, we need to practice what we preach.

"Hector the heckler"? Boo, hiss!!! Sounds like he's looking for "Chucky" from the movies...

Gilly, I still go for the Chex cereals every now & then;-) Like wheat best, then rice, but not the corn.

well Judy, it's easy for those people to say that when it's not right in their own backyard. It's real easy for someone like Hector to play armchair-commando.

Most of them forgot Bin Laden was an financially backed ally of ours once.

Most of them didn't look deeper into the matter, especially what went on the year previous to 9/11 in that region and the parties involved.

Most of them also just accept what they're told on the tell-a-vision, in regards to who did what and why and assume it's the truth.

Two of those just killed were Kansas men. And yes, the news articles tells that they were disposing of old rockets.

As per the KS AP newswire, "Two Kansas men were among four American soldiers killed Monday in Afghanistan as they attempted to dispose of old rockets."

As to Post Toasties, yup I ate that cereal for breakfast many a time while growing up. So did my oldest brother. Hm, I just had an interesting thought--my other brother always opted for Skinner's Raisin Bran. He died of cancer in 1997. Nah, don't think for a second that cereal had anything to do with it.

Personally, I will take any type of corn flake as long as it's smothered in honey. I just can't get enough of that! I'll eat it until I'm sick, then eat one more bowl just to make sure!

Wheat hearts with milk and sugar. My mom used to fix it every morning that my dad took us fishing.

I'm a Sugar Smack man myself. Except once in a while I'll have some of my wifes Captain Crunch.

-- Jay Blair in N. AL (jayblair678@yahoo.com), April 17, 2002.

-- Sariah in S. Idaho (joelsariah@hotmail.com), April 17, 2002.

Shredded wheat! The big ones that filled the bowel and you had to attack them with a spoon so get 'em eddible. Not the whimpy little minis that fit the spoon. No sport!

-- Dennis Enyart (westwoodcaprine@yahoo.com), April 18, 2002.

We get the round shredded wheat and call them hay bales, ummmm love them. But I remain a true diehard granola person
