I have lived in many homes with barns - but have never seen a barn owl - are they endangered in your state? BQ in WV

I have heard they are here in Indiana. Urban sprawl is causing alot of the problem. I have seen alot barn owls in my life, and they sure are something to see. You hear about them, and then when you finally see one, it is really something, IMHO.

They are indeed wonderful birds. They are not endangered here in Oregon but I'd sure like to see them oftener than I do. LQ

Owls don't need barns to nest in,if they did where would they have nested before 1492? Actually they like hollow trees which can be hard to come by these days in some places. Also owls like flying squirrels, mink and bobcats are very seldom 'show' themselves you have to be looking for them.

There's an organization out there trying to help prevent habitat loss by building nesting boxes to install on the sides of modern buildings but I've lost their address. The owls are fussy about box size and location
