new toy

went to SAMS the other day,, they had a 12v winch,, 89 bucks, 3T rolling load, 1T flat load. 30 foot cable, ect. doesnt need to be mounted, has a bracket to loop over a ball hitch, or whatever. I hooked it up directly to a battery,,worked great. SO its also portable. First thing I used it on, ,was to pull the old "satalite" dish from the yard, one of those primestar ones. It had 3 feet buried into concrete,,pulled it right out. Looked over the pole,, think I could use it elsewhere, without the concrete though. SO I set it in the fire pit,, got a nice fire rolling around it,, and a few hits with a hammer, it all broke off. SO , next time you need to remove concrete form a pole,, this may be worth a shot

And I certainly will pass that info along - wish I'd known it when we dug out old basketball hoop LOL!!

Thanks

Stan, I have a bigger one with the same keyhole plate for a trailer ball and it works great. Mine is a 40 ton capacity and I hardwired from my battery to my back bumper then put a heavy coupler there so I can leave the power plug in the winch and just connect that way. If you're going to use it over a ball on your truck very often I'd heartily suggest that to you. Regular trailer light connectors aren't heavy enough for the draw. I got mine at NAPA for around $15- 18, I think. With this set up I just pull the winch from the toolbox, slip it over the ball, plug in the power and I'm good to go. With a big clevis hook that fits around my step bumper and gets pinned on through another trailer ball hole and my cable pulley I can pull my Tahoe out of about anything.

Stan, I'm glad you found such a great new toy. It seems like the only time I ever find such good deals on things, I don't have any money in my pocket. Oh well. Thanks for the tip for removing concrete from a pole. That will probably come in handy here this spring. Have fun with your new toy!

Don't care about the pole, but I'm heading to Sam's, closest price I could find (& I've been looking!) is $150 with a short cable. Really been looking! :)

Thanks, --->Paul
