Need help w/disintegrating concrete bird bath

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I have one of those concrete bird bath dishes that sits on top of a pedestal. The concrete is disintegrating and gets worse each time I scrub the algae away. Is there a safe way to thoroughly clean it, let it dry, then coat with something to stop the erosion?

I am not for sure about this but I would think if you emptied it and them scrubbed it real clean, let it dry and then I know at places like home depot and Lowes, They have a concret sealer for sidewalks and porches. I would think that using one of them would help it a lot. jennifer

I'm not sure if it would be better than the sealer, but I have used a product called Thorocrete, that will hold anywhere. You might paint it afterwards, as it sounds like you scrub with a vengence.

I have made patches to the edged of steps that held forever.
