Someone's been digging in the Archives again

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Has anyone else besides me done this? You are happily perusing the new answers section, when you come across what looks like an interesting thread. You click, and "Wow" you say. "Looks like everybody in the world jumped on this thread". You eagerly fly through the crossfire of words, eagerly gobbling up the vast array of opinions. You get to the end and respond, when you suddenly realize this thread is two years old and you just responded like it happened yesterday. AHHHHH!!! Red Face! Red, Red Face!

Answers

Yep. Readin' them as they come, come up with a great answer to one fellow's post and start to hit the "reply" button only to find that I already have answered - a *year* ago!

Some of them old threads were a real blast from the past.

LOOK at the dates before getting all worked up! Why can't I ever remember that?

.......Alan.

I think we should revive some of those old threads. They were a lot of fun! It'd also help us to get to know the newer people better and vice versa.

Just so we don't get another thread on removing sex organs without drugs again! LOL!

Same problem here. Look at the title and go oh my, same old same old, and then see that it really is......just resumed by the same person usually. They are fun to read again though.

Yep - someone revives it - you're reading along - hey, that response makes a lot of sense - I don't think I can add anything to this thread after this post - Oh, me!

Honestly, I don't mind the threads about castrating without painkillers. It's good practice for us. Think about it- we get this type of question a lot from people who don't raise livestock, and I think it will be coming up even more often in the future. The people who ask are genuinely concerned for the animals, they are not always PETA types, some are just not familiar with the realities of farming life. If we want farming and homesteading to have a positive image, we need to think about these issues and how to deal (tactfully) with the questions that arise from people who are not in the know.

Little bit Farm, I have a big giant request for you. I know we have gone through this before, but why can you not uncheck the box for return responses when you use your fake e-mail addy?? Just wondering.

-- diane (gardiacaprines@yahoo.com), March 07, 2002.

I've read over and over to "go to the archives" first. So I'm not supposed to respond to anything? or what?

-- Ben (11022033@canada.com), March 07, 2002.

No, please respond, even to the old messages! They may be 'oldies', but lots of them are 'goodies'!

-- Rebekah (daniel1@itss.net), March 09, 2002.

I totally agree Rebekah! I often can not find threads I've posted to and will spend most of my half hour limit looking for them. There is a good possibility that some fresh ideas that no one else has thought of can come into old threads. I'm always happy when I see new responses in my e-mail site.

BTDT and have a t-shirt! LOL! In all my excitement to add to the conversation, I never do think to look at dates! *giggle-snort!*

I thought we answered every question on earth at least ten times. ;-) Or maybe some of us answered each question ten times. Or something like that...

And a "crossfire of words" is something that some of us would just as soon not reprise. Diane's (I think it was Diane's) sandbox theory comes to mind.

Hope everyone is hale and hearty these days. Bye for now,
