Finally got cheap health insurance

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Hi all, Thanks for all the help with my nagging questions on everything from heat pumps to sew-free stuff! I've read a lot of us here need cheap insurance so I thought I'd pass this along:

Please know, I have NO interest in this company, just passing along info as I said. I'm happy about the health insurance I got for my 3 boys from the Natl Assoc for the Self Employed (NASE). The amount is $187.00 per month WITH dental insurance! I opted for a higher deductible since my kids are all healthy. There were plans cheaper than that without the dental--I think somewhere in the $140.00 range for the three kids. I live in North Carolina and don't know if the price makes a difference nationwide. I did have to join the NASE association, but I noticed a lot of perks with being a member, haven't put them to the test, yet. I think they have a website. I have a refridgerator magnet in the kitchen from the agent, so if anybody can't find the website, e-mail me and I'll check. Hope this helps!

The real test of any health insurance company (or auto/home insurance for that matter) is how they pay their claims. Hopefully you won't have to make any:) Glad you found someone.

wendy, so, this just covers your children? or does it include you and your hsb too? What type of fee is involved in joining the NASE? also, do you have to pay an annual renewal fee? thanks for any additional details. joyce in wi

The price of the insurance includes the membership fee. The extra 'benefits' of belonging haven't been important to us. The tax info is helpful. The insurance has paid the providers very promptly in our opinion. I have had this insurance for 7 months. ALso if you pay for 11 (I think that's right) months at once you get the 12th free. You also get a free magazine and your kids are eligible to apply for college scholarships.

We have BC/BS, $5000 deductible, no dental, for a family of 4 for $188 a month. Just in case any one might be interested in checking out another source.
