Yahoogroups down as is bravenet, weird

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I thought it was so strange today when I got home from work and saw only 7 messages in my yahoo malibox. I usually get tons with all the yahoogroups I am on. I didn't really catch it at first, I wasn't really reading my NubianTalk posts right away. I usually read the goatsd5 lists. I thought it strange I didn't get any e-mails. So I went to the yahoogroups site to see, thinking it may have been my mail, it wasn't. I read a service temporarily down.

I had never seen that in the 3 yrs I had yahoo seen it down.. I then wondered what folks were going to do who rely on the lists for ER help, etc.

Then I decided to check out my website counter to see who was visiting, how many, etc. Its with bravenet. So I didn't see the counter button on the home page, weird, I ahdn't tampered with it. So I went to their site and got the same message. I wonder if its concidence or maybe some hacking. I noticed the Back woods Forum was tampered with last week.

Hmmmmm anyone else wondering what happened?

Paul, Where did you hear it was hacked? I check a number of Enews services and no-one has info about yahoo!

yahoo groups are back but a bit slow at the moment.

The message archives are back, but any emails sent after the service went down are still missing. The most recent post I've seen is from 10:30 am March 4th, and that's from a list that usually generates 20 posts a day.

I've been searching the net for info. AOL barely worked at all Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It wouldn't sign on correctly, the mail wouldn't pull up, I couldn't surf, etc. Then on Monday it was back to working...but Yahoo was down.

Seems that there's something going on out there in cyberspace. I'm anxiously awaiting an explanation.

Okay, my friend and I sent email to each other yesterday...links from google and yahoo, information from our buying club, etc., and I sent stuff to a different friend. none of our email is on yahoo, but about half of it didn't make it, and some of it made it 11 hours AFTER it was sent. she had problems sending to her mother elsewhere. interestingly enough, all of our emails are from different providers, and 3 are from local email services.

Well, at least we know now. I'm on about four different poultry related Yahoo groups and it was annoying to just get that silly plumber without any real explanation as to what was going on.

Hello, first time post here. I sent a message to Topica and never got it back. But it's posted on the archives. Something is definitely happening to the Internet. Any conspiracy theories? ;-) Randal

i use some of bravenet services and was told by bravenet that security had been breeched and they shut down to fix the trouble, and some data would be lost but it would be a few days before all was up and running again.

It looks like these problems were due to Yahoo clubs migrating to Yahoo groups. I see now that they spam you with an ad every few messages.
