Great B-day Present.......

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Well yesterday I got an awesome birthday present from my grandparents an INCUBATOR, I am soooo happy I think it is gonna be so much fun I think the kids are more excited then me. I laugh because my friends and family would never understand how exciting it is to get a new tractor, baby chicks, baby ducks and an incubator for gifts. This country air has diffently changed me and I love it. Had to share it with you.

Yes, in my community, I am the only woman who ever got a chipper shredder for Christmas and did a Happy Happy dance. LOL

I am SO glad to have found Countryside. I need you guys to feel "normal."

Great present! This past Christmas my dad gave me a toolbox stuffed with hand tools, including some that belonged to my late grandpa. I was thrilled!! I was so excited, I told everyone...but my MIL looked at me like I was a few bricks short of a load and asked, "What are you going to do with that?" Build stuff! Lots of stuff!!

My neighbor gave me an electric chain saw for christmas one year. Another time we, the kids and I, came back from church to find that the wood fairies had been to my house and split and stacked all of my wood.

What a wonderful birthday present. This is really what gift giving is all about. It is about knowing the person well enough to choose a gift they would love instead of giving something the giver would like to get as a gift. So many people choose a gift that they like rather than one the recipient would like. By the way, I too would have been thrilled to get the toolbox. I'm always threatening hubby that I am going to get my own toolbox because he keeps leaving his all over the place instead of putting them away so I can't find one when I want it. I did get my own set of screwdrivers. I think I'll get a hammer and needlenose plyers and a toolbox and get started. Spring is here and I'm going to be wanting that stuff. LOL

Yes it was nice to get my own tool box full of quality tools from my spouse until I realized they were the brand of tools he prefered and because I keep them tidy and In the house where they are handy he takes mine instead of going out to the shop and getting his and then puts them back in his tool box instead of mine.Or worse he looses them.I'll bet if you are honest the guys all do that. Huh? Thats why I keep him.If I got rid of him and got another I probably wouldn't be any better off and besides, he has lots of good qualities too! LOL.

Corky, my husband used to borrow my tools until I painted the handles of all them a true "hot pink". I told him it was so that I could find them easily. He now uses his own tools. LOL

Happy Birthday

It's a little late, but thought we would send the wish just the same! Have fun with the incubator!

Happy birthday from me too. My favorite gift one year was a wheelbarrow. My sister was so sorry for me (she is one who prefers jewellry and that sort of thing) I had such a hard time getting it through her head that I was very very happy with the gift. She just gives up on me now I had the same problem with my husband and teenaged boys using MY tools too. NOw I hide them.I just put them in the same cupboard as the laundry soap.....they will never look there!!!!!! And I wrote in big black letters on my yellow flashlight THIS IS MOM"S .They won't be caught dead with it now.

My MIL used to do the shopping for me, which resulted in zebra striped pantsuits and repeating parrot toys. NOW, my FIL does it and I got a Dremel and a jigsaw! Yahoo! She's a sweet lady, but we don't have the same interests (or taste:) ) so it's better for the Mr. to do it. Anyway, happy happy birthday Sonny!

All right, I admit it, Corky,...I'm guilty. I got my husband a new set of drill bits as one of his birthday presents one year because I really wanted new ones! Well, he does use them too....
