"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters." --Benjamin Franklin

you would think old Ben has been reading the headlines recently. the more I learn about this amazing group (Jefferson, Adams, Adams, Washington, Henry, etc) the more I appreciate what they accomplished against incredible odds. when I hear them referred to as "old dead white guys" or see cartoon Washington's hawking President's Day sale items I shake my head. history is very cool. especially our own. a virtual guidepost for the present and future. a worrisome thought.

that is a good quote also B. lackie, History is cool if learned in the proper way plus very important if the future generations are to govern wisely. It just seems that now adays we do not take the lessons learned in the past and use them for today.

for those interested in the American Revolution I can strongly recommend this book: "Patriots, the Men Who Started the American Revolution" by A. J. Langguth. (sorry no lib# - is lent to a friend now) I read this book every year or so because a) it's a great read imo and b)to refresh my memory of the many dates and details. I love history but sometimes the old mind is a sieve.

the other popular book titled "Patriots" is fun too but that's another can of worms. (or maybe not)

B. Lackie; If you want another look at the revolution from the inside read the book "Thaddeus Kosciuszko,The purest son of liberty" by james S. Pula.
