Record keeping software (for hogs) (Hogs)

We are currently using Pigchamp but it is expensive. Is Porcitec (www.agritecsoft.com/en) a good program? What other programs are out there?

Response to Record keeping software

Maybe you can find some helpful info. from this: Also, please go to the following web site and look at the software programs that are available on production scheduling and pig flow. http://www.nppc.org/PROD/computerdir.pdf This is the NPPC publication on Computer software and Internet locations for the swine industry. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open this file, but if you do not have it, you can download it, free, from the web. Once you get it open, go to page 29 where all the software programs are listed for production scheduling and pig flow. Look them over, and order one of them on a trial basis. Do not pay a high price for such a program, as the less costly ones will probably meet your needs. Also, check the following web sites: http://www.porks.com/ http://www1.umn.edu/pigchamp/ http://www.netins.net/showcase/swinedata/

I have had Porcitec program (free and pro edition) for 3 years and it works really well. It is also user-friendly and incorporates a report designer. Porcitec can import Pigchamp data base.

Where I can find Porcitec program?

Got to http://www.google.com

Type in: Porcitec (I just cut & pasted it from your message.)

Hit the 'search' button.

You will find a ton of sources & reviews, then you don't have to rely on just the company or 1 opinion.

This is a great way to find other info.

For example, you could type in 'pork software' or 'hog operating software' or some such and find much info and reviews.

Yahoo.com, excite.com, dogpile.com, and many others also provide these search engines, and will often find different topics. Try them. Many of the questions asked on a forum like this can get much better results from a search engine - they are called portals now I guess.
