Response to feed suppliments

Yes, peanuts can make an excellent feed supplement. They are a high protein feed but their protein isn't complete in itself so it needs another component to round it out. If you can find a copy of Feeds and Feeding by Morrison (?) there will be some explanation in it about what you can do with them. Your local library might have a copy or they can interlibrary loan the book. My copy is on loan to a friend so I can't look it up.

Response to feed supplements (Cattle - Beef)

It is dangerous to make assumptions, so take this for what it's worth:

I assume that peanuts & soybeans have a lot in common, as oil & protien rich legumes. As such, there might be some of the same feeding concerns. With soybeans, you can feed a few lbs as a small part of the total suppliment of whole feed ration. You want soybeans whole, grinding them makes them active in the wrong stomach. To feed larger amounts, they need to be roasted or extruded - there is an ensyme in beans that needs to be cooked out for good digestion of larger amounts.

I'd guess peanuts would have _some_ but not all of the same concerns as soybeans?
