Hi I am looking for places to go in OHio , mostly livestock auctions ,flea markets and Amish stores .Please direct me to the right places .I plan a trip next month thanks.

Holmes county is nice, with a livestock auction in Kidron, and Lehman's store. Walnut Creek (also Holmes County) area is more touristy, but has nice shops. There is also Middlefield, where I live, with N. Bloomfield livestock auction on Thursdays, and Amish shops. We are smaller than the Holmes County settlement and have less 'stuff' to see. Mary

If you are near New Philadelphia, the Moony Warther Carving Museum is awesome. He carved replica trains and the family has them on display. Well worth the time. We took the kids to Shoenbraun Village, then the carving museum, then through Sugarcreek to ride the train, then to Pearl Valley for cheese for a mini-vacation a few summers ago.

YOu might want to check out http://www.visitamishcountry.com/ This is the Holmes county web site. Lots of info about amish things to do in the area.

Lehmans is a must stop. Next door to lehmans is an open marketplace most weekends. Behind that is the farm auction site. It will be active several times a year. Next to that is the amish country store.

Malibar farms is a neet place to visit. Its a working farm and was created by Louis Bromfield, Pulitzer Prize-winning author. Its has events year round. http://www.malabarfarm.org/home.html

Lehmans is a must! There is a livestock auction right next to it. Take drives off the main roads. There are tons and tons of shops, etc. in amish homes with little signs out front and better prices than in the tourist stores. Once you get there, there are all kinds of maps of the area so you don't get lost. Very very beautiful country and enjoyable drives off the beaten path. Just remember, ALL amish owned businesses are closed on Sundays. If you see a store open..it ain't amish!

What part of the state are you visiting? If you aren't going over towards Holmes county, there are many other Amish settlements around the state. I have info on many and will pass it on.

We used to live in Holmes County. Mt. Hope auction was quite an attraction.

If you want to come a little farther southwest, there is a nice Amish community in Adams county, about 40 miles east of Cincinnati. There's a great Amish furniture store and bakery called Miller's that's fun to visit. There is also an annual auction in Wheat Ridge, but that's not usually until September. There are also some good flea markets north of Cincinnati called Traders World, and Ceasar Creek. If you're looking for beautiful scenery, check out Hocking Hills and the State Park there. That's a little more central in the state. Beautiful!!!

Hello, I live in Holmes County. Kidron is actually in Wayne county just north of us. THere is an auction in Mt. Hope on Wednesday and the Kidron auction is on Thursday. There is a large "Amish" flea market on Rt. 39 (main drag through Holmes COunty), but I don't know how many Amish are really there. Much of this area is tourist traps run by non Amish cashing in on their Amish name. There is a really nice antique mall store in Berlin (also on 39). If you drive around the backroads, you will see lots of real Amish shops on their farms. WE have an area near us, where in one short stretch there is a harness and leather shop, a furniture shop, a hickory rocker shop and a pottery. Although, I am not sure the pottery is Amish owned. Lehmans has lots of old timey stuff, but very HIGH priced. THere is a little tiny hardware (right at the blinking light of route 62 and 77) called Bunker Hill Hardware. They are packed full of stuff and it is really cheap compared to Lehmans. The big Lehmans is in Kidron and fun to look at the first time you go. There is also a little Lehmans in Mt. Hope. If I can be of anymore help, please feel free to write to me. We are moving about 30 miles south of here in less than 2 weeks. There are lots of Amish down there too. =)

in the south eastern part of ohio there is a huge flea market and livestock market in a little place called Rogers it's east of Lisbon a few miles. It has several buildings and lots of outside tables. one of the largest places I've been to. This time of year it's busy, but not nearly as much so as when it's a little warmer it's held every friday. I see that you are in N.Y. there is also a nice flea market and auction in the little town of Springville, ny. slow this time of year on the flea market stuff but the small stock sale is busy most weeks this sale is held on wednesdays.
