Are you divorced/widowed and thinking about getting married to a significant other. What are your reasons in favor? How different are your reasons now than they were the first time around?

i am told i need finacial security at this point of my life, by my partner. (the first marriage was for"love",i was 18.we where both poor) i have been self employed my entire life and he wants to give me his pension plans and s.s. etc., if he should die.i ask myself, why do people get married at this age , we are not having any more children...we both have our own homes . is money a good reason to get married at 55??i love him ,but at this point, there is no pitter patter like when i was 18, in my life the "night in shinning armor " story is about played out.hmmm...what to do?
