Tomatoes, potatoes, bread, spices--the dangers!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Oh me, oh my Mother Earth is poisoning us with her natural, organic toxins! I am on a mission to alert all humans to stop eating---NOW! Did you know that our lovely tomatoes contain hydrogen peroxide and quercetin glycosides? Hello! These are CARCINOGENS! added by our Mother. :-( And baked potatoes are really toxic! They contain arsenic, amylase inhibitors, chaconine, oxalic acid and solanine! Down with potatoes! Save the children! Bread and rolls and all my smoked goodies like fish, ham bacon and sausage and BBQ meats contian the carcinogen benzo(a)pyrene...so does tea and coffee. This stuff, benzo-whatever, is a carcinogen too! And even my spices are trying to kill me. Nutmeg, cinammon, black pepper...all of them, contain the carcinogen called "safrole." Woe is me...is any one else wringing their hands? ANd I read that nuts and peanut butter are suppose to be good for you. Now I find out that they contain aflatoxins. Aflatoxins are among the most potent mutagen and carcinogen known to man. And even celery contains a humna mutagen and carcinogen known as psoralen. So much for going to the local organic coop and eating healthy. Bring on the Twinkies.

Hey!!! We are all going to die of cancer anyway(or some other weird disease). Carcinogens are in EVERYTHING we eat, drink, and breathe. (According to someone, somewhere) So... I say just enjoy your life and eat what you like because we never know what tomorrow will bring so why get all bent out of shape about it.

Now now. Don't they say all things in moderation. Does that mean if we only eat a moderate amount of the things we're discussing we'll only get a moderate case of cancer? And you know what they say about too much of a good thing.....

Can you believe we live to be about 90 years old now. Well most of the women in my family don't pass away till there about 102. Way back when people died of natural causes it was becaus we could not pin piont what really did them in. Now they can tell you with all the new fangled medical stuff they have, just what kill you. When my grandfather passed away they told the family he had 7 things wrong with him that could have taken his life. One of which was cancer in a tumor on his spine. They said they could not believe he was walking. LOL Well we had to tell them he was also ridding his stallion 2 days before that was 16 1/2 hands tall. Grandpa was so stiff he had to get on the back of the buckboard everyday just to get himself in the saddle but he never missed his evening ride. :)

Years ago I read the ingredients of an orange. It read like bio- chemistry 400. It was one chemical after another. Made you never want to drink orange juice again. The point of the ad was to tell us that just because something has "chemicals" in it does not mean that it is always bad for us, I guess there is some truth to that.

As far as I know the only thing that does not cause cancer is distilled water, but that is questionable because it has to be stored in some kind of comtainer , and that container probably leaches something into the pristine water making it a carcinogen also.

There is usually some junk science behind a lot of this stuff. If someone has us scared we tend to listen and give them money to "Save us from this evil". There is a never ending quest for our money to fund their ideas. I firmly believe that the key to all this junk is truly MODERATION. A little of MOST things will cause no permanent harm, but a lot may cause damage. It is just common sense that dictates this to us.

Talk to you later.

But Lurkylu, look at the good side of Twinkies. With all the preservatives, your family can probably skip embalming your body; your shelf life is assured at least a couple of months, as long as the wrapper stays sealed.

As far as the 'Twinkie defense' idea, just another way to screw the system out of another lifer living in the slammer.

I'm be going now . . . this stuff is beginning to make some sense, and that is scary.

Don't forget that thousands of scientific studies have shown that everyone who eats tomatoes (and I mean EVERYONE) has later died. No exceptions, and appearently eating even just one is enough to ensure that you, too, will die. And the statistics are almost as high for Twinkies (we're just waiting for info back on some guy named Keith Richards).
