Questions on Raising Veal Calves

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Anyone out there raised veal? I'm most interested in keeping them scour free at 3 weeks + (when their tummies should be handling grain or hay). I've raised plenty of calves but never milk fed veal. Have'nt found much technical info on the web. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Just make their milk into yougurt. This will work if you are feeding them real milk.

Yes, yogurt really works. We used to mix plain yogurt in with the fresh cow milk we were feeding. Another thing is not to overfeed. It's better to underfeed a little in the beginning and gradually increase.
