Update on taming pregnant goats

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Well I can now feed the 2 does from a pan in my lap :)))) They will also eat grain out of my hand from over the fence, but not with me inside.

I'm not quite sure how to go about getting my hands on them.....they are still pretty wary when I lift my hand up.

Ideas?

Put the food on the back of your hand, they understand fingers, just nuzzle them gently with the back of your hand as they are eating. A little salt sticking to cooking oil helps the same way.

Tracy,

have you fed them on the goat stancion yet? I would start feeding them on it as if you were milking them, then in a week or two lock their heads in and touch them to your hearts content! they probably will panic but if you stay around their head at first and hand feed them goodies then move around to their backs a little more each day.
