Galcier Bay faucets; do you have any complaints

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Do any of you have bathroom or kitchen faucets by Glacier Bay (home depo brand, i believe)? Knowing this is not the cadillac brand of faucets, is it a decent faucet for the price? Would you buy it again? Anything else you'd like to add?

Thanks

I installed a Glacier Bay fixture in my bathroom sink about 2 years ago and so far have no complaints. Came from Home Depot of course. I looked a lot of different fixtures over and they (Glacier Bay) looked as good as any to me, with a better price tag.

My dad bought one of their kitchen faucets with the porcelain handles, and the handle broke in half and cut a nerve in his thumb. He had to go to the emergency care center to sew it up and now after two minor surgeries he still has nerve damage. I kept telling him to call a lawyer and pursue some cash, but he never would call anyone.

We bought a polished two-handle bathroom faucet sku 109-922. The installation instructions are very poor. There is NO MENTION AT ALL in the directions on how to install the drain. The pictures are not accurate, and there were extra washers that were not mentioned in the installation instructions. Also, the hot/cold faucet connectors under the sink are non-standard size which required me to go buy new hoses. I would recommend paying the extra money and getting a better brand like Kohler. I also bought 2 Kohler faucets for a different bathroom. The workmanship and quality of the Kohler is much better than the Glacier Bay brand. I would not buy Glacier bay again.

Purchased and installed two porcelin-handled bathroom sink faucet and drain sets by Glacier Bay. Didn't really need any instructions, as it's very obvious as to the set-up of drain and faucet. The originally installed faucets (no-name) were far inferior to the Glacier Bay units ($49.95 ea. @ Home Depot). Used 30" flexible piping, which replaced copper tubing (permanently attached to original faucets). The only problem was the original copper tubing had a joint, which turned out not to be threaded, so the first sink required 30" flex pipe, while the second sink could have been better with only a 20" flex; too much tubing might get in the way of drawers to the side of piping. But over-all - the faucets look great - work great - and, as previously noted, had a decent price. I'm going to buy 3 more and install them next weekend!

I have installed 2 in my bathrooms and they are decent. I am getting a little leaking from the handles which is beginning to piss me off (anyone else have this problem??), but overall they are ok. I bought a better quality for the kitchen, a pull out Moen and love that. I dunno, I probably wouldn't buy another Glacier Bay faucet if I had to do it all over again.

I bought three Glacier Bay faucets for the bathrooms. Two out fo three started leaking and the assembly broke when I tried two unscrew it to replace the valve assembly. I definetly would not buy another faucet of this brand. I would rather spend the money for a better product.
