People from a planet without flowers would think we must be mad with joy the whole time to have such things about us. (Iris Murdoch)

This reminds me of a neighbor I had years ago. She was new to the U.S. from Vietnam. She cried when her American husband sprayed all of the pretty dandelions in their yard. I could see her point, they really are pretty little flowers!

Cowgirl, I am one of the few people I know who likes dadelions. For some reason they remind me of the last day of school before summer break. I watch most people hurry off to get weed killer when they see them in their lawns. I don't want or need what some consider a perfect lawn. I love to go on raod trips and always make a comment to whoever is in the car about how beautiful the feilds look covered with dandilions. Always the same ole comment, "Oh, those are nothing but weeds." I think at one time or another most flowers were considered weeds. George

A weed is just a flower in the "wrong" place. I often encourage what are traditionally considered weeds to grow in my gardens. They are lovely in their own right.

I'm cultivating dandelions as leaf vegetables and herbals in my greenhouse.
