Can I post a question on comparative religious practices?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I have a question that would require folks from all sorts of religions, or with all sorts of experience with different religions, to answer properly. I would go to a religious site, but since I need comparative information, going to, for example, a Christian site, or a Buddhist site would be defeating the purpose. My question is about as non-inflammatory as you can get given the subject, and I'd be more than happy to tke the responses in personal e-mail if that's neccessary. I just need some info on which religions espouse a certain type of ministry or behavior.

I suspect both Dave and I would be far more comfortable if you would post your question on one of the off-shoot forums, such as Freedom/Self-Reliance. Remember this is a forum on homesteading, not religion or politics. While we fully recognize both play a large part in people's lives, there are plenty of other alternative forums to discuss these viewpoints.

I would enjoy a discussion such as that, Soni! Post it in Country Families and I bet it would be very interesting and educational!

Although a lot of people on Country Families are of the Christian Persuasion, many other religious beliefs are represented as well, so you are welcome to try it there!

Hello Soni,

Comparision of religions, especially here would probably end up in arguments as many have very narrow views about "their" religious lives. I think if Melissa has welcomed you to her forum, that it would be best to post your thoughts there.

Many of us feel more comfortable with posting on the off-shoot forums as there is a diversity of topics on them including religion that is acceptable. This forum is strictly homestead based.....even though many of us have argued that religion is a homestead issue.

The arguments cause so much duress here that ultimately the webmaster has no choice but to delete any post that even "leans" near the subject of religion. For the sake of the entire Country Side this is the best for everyone.

Sincerely,

Ernest

Religion is a sure way to get tempers going up. Every body has an opinion and very few are the same. I don't even discuss it with most members of my family. This is a great homesteading forum keep up the good work by deleting things that are problems and sending them to forums that are related.

Thanks, Soni, for having the consideration to ask. Better and easier for all concerned. I personally think religion is a vital subject, as do many others, so apart from emotions religion generates a huge volume of responses as well - and this forum is becoming unwieldy as it is.

if someone would post the address for the Country Families site, I will post it there and see what I get. Thank you.
